Method of Waterproofing of Toilets
The old method of waterproofing was make a layer cement plaster added with chemical.
Now a days we use method like waterproofing membranes in this area.
Generally there are two types of waterproofing membranes:
Liquid membrane
Sheet membrane
Primer, tape & silicon, waterproofing membrane are used in waterproofing toilets
Method we use
Preparation of Surface
Sureface should be dust free, no loose particles, no contaminants on surface, should be smooth, walls all brushed.
Priming of Toilet Surfaces
We apply primer to the up to required height of the wall and then on the floor.
Bond Breakers
When the primer goes dry we use combination of silicon and tape. Tape to be applied on four walls at required height. This is to ensure that waterproofing is done up to this height only.
Sometimes we do waterproofing to full heights as per the requirement. we put silicon on all the corners vertically and horizontally very carefully to ensure no gap is left over from where water could go in.
